  1. The B word bothers me too. I don't use gendered slurs (B or C word) and I don't like others using them either. There are plenty of gender-neutral insults you can use instead. The only time I use the word "bitch" is like "bad bitch" in a positive way but only if I know someone would consider it a compliment.

Budget. There, I said it. Don't hate me. It's the big bad "B" word. It's one single word that causes grief, pain and a sudden sense of nausea. Talking about the "B" word is like riding in a boat, getting seasick, and remembering that you forget to bring your Dramamine. It's a never-ending out of control feeling. Can you relate?
  3. Agreed. Its vile. I hate that women use it 'affectionatel' to each other, but no man should use it unless they are describing a female dog - and THATS why it's used, it's a hugely dismissive, offensive and dehumanising term.

The b-word, as described in the 1811 Dictionary of the Vulgar Tongue, is "the most offensive appellation that can be given to an English woman, even more provoking than that of whore." I find it appalling (though unsurprising) that an insult was designed to be directed at a gender specifically. Sure, you could direct the word at a male, but ...
  5. I use them all the time, b-word, c-word, s-word whatever. Being called a gendered slur doesn't bother me, it's a word. What would bother me is someone saying something like, "i'm not going to hire you because you're a woman". The sex of the person using the word doesn't really make a difference to how i feel about them.

Aug 4, 2023Friday, August 04, 2023 The "b" word This is the face I've seen all too much this summer: This is the face of a bored child who's asked me over and over. ... So I absolutely hate when my Nies tell me that they are bored. It drives me crazy, and lately, I've heard this bad word.
