  3. yeah, jingle. the issue isn't the server it's that the clients don't support it. this is typical of xmpp. inline images and gifs are another example. the standard supports it. servers support it. but it's up to the client to handle actually displaying them to the user (most do actually have a way to do this these days, to be fair).

    Jun 14, 2024I run unrealircd, Matrix, Dendrite (matrix server in Go) and OpenFire (xmpp). All work well, it's just a matter of the client you use for each service. Personally, my whole immediate family uses Matrix because the client, Element, is pretty slick. Matrix operates a lot like xmpp/irc with rooms and one-on-one chats, and it's stable.
