Here at Gnomedex, @bre talked about his MakerBot. As part of it, he talked about his history. He did stuff on the Internet, but didn't really know anyone else. So in 2005 he came to his first Gnomedex and met the other people from the Internet. In 2009, 4 years later, he's on stage presenting, telling us about @makerbot.
  2. For me, Gnomedex is a concentration and celebration of modern creativity, technologies that enable new kinds of creativity, and the expression of that creativity. It is the love of the craft , whatever that may be for you: journalism, photography, programming, writing, music, knitting; all expressions of innovation as a creative endeavor.
  3. The following is my random some-what delayed thoughts after attending Gnomedex 9 in Seattle. I attended on my own dime so these thoughts begin and end with little ole me. This is my second Gnomedex, the first being in 2006. Having missed the last two, I put Gnomedex 9 on my schedule as soon as possible so as to avoid missing it.

Gnomedex 2009 day 2 and wrapup. ... —Dave Winer, Steve Gillmor, Sarah Lacy, Jason Calacanis, Mark Canter, Doug Kaye, Adam Curry, et. al.—was there this time, which made for less high-level arguing (or grandstanding). ... How's it workin' for you?" - Chris Pirillo (At Gnomedex 6.0 in 2006, Second Life was the Current Big Thing. Not anymore.)

21 August 2009 Gnomedex 2009 day 1 ... My wife Air live blogged the first day's talks here at the 9th annual Gnomedex conference, and you can also watch the live video stream on the website. I posted a bunch of photos. Here are my written impressions.
  6. This particular Green Screen Challenge could land your entry on the Seattle-area Comcast network (as well as a full pass to Gnomedex 2009)! That's right - I'm going to choose the best of the bunch, and that person's entry will be seen by millions of people on TELEVISION!

Posted on August 22, 2009 by dbarefoot. Select Quotes From Gnomedex Skip to entry content. For the fifth time, I've been at Gnomedex this weekend. It's the usual melange of fascinating speakers, good friends and general nerdiness. Derek aptly described it as "a web society annual family reunion".
