About this app

At DuckDuckGo, we believe the best way to protect your personal information from hackers, scammers, and privacy-invasive companies is to stop it from being collected at all. That's why millions of people choose DuckDuckGo over Chrome and other browsers to search and browse online. Our built-in search engine is like Google but never tracks your searches. And our browsing protections, such as ad tracker blocking and cookie blocking, help stop other companies from collecting your data. Oh, and our browser is free ā€” we make money from privacy-respecting search ads, not by exploiting your data. Take back control of your personal information with the browser designed for data protection, not data collection.

FEATURE HIGHLIGHTS
Protect Your Searches by Default: DuckDuckGo Search comes built-in, so you can easily search online without being tracked.

Shield Your Browsing History: Our 3rd-Party Tracker Loading Protection blocks most trackers before they load, greatly exceeding what most popular browsers offer by default.

Secure Your Email (Optional): Use Email Protection to block most email trackers and hide your existing email address with @duck.com addresses.

Watch YouTube Videos Without Targeted Ads: Duck Player protects you from targeted ads and cookies with a distraction-free interface that incorporates YouTubeā€™s strictest privacy settings for embedded video.

Automatically Enforce Encryption: Shield your data from network and Wi-Fi snoopers by forcing many sites to use an HTTPS connection.

Protect Your Personal Information in Other Apps: Block most hidden trackers in other apps around the clock (even while youā€™re sleeping) and prevent 3rd-party companies from invading your privacy with App Tracking Protection. This feature uses a VPN connection but is not a VPN. It works locally on your device and does not collect personal data.

Escape Fingerprinting: Make it harder for companies to create a unique identifier for you by blocking attempts to combine info about your browser and device.

Sync and Back Up Securely (Optional): Sync encrypted bookmarks and passwords across your devices.

Clear your tabs and browsing data in a flash with the Fire Button.

Banish cookie pop-ups and automatically set your preferences to minimize cookies and maximize privacy.

And many more protections not available on most browsers, even in private browsing mode, including protection from link tracking, Global Privacy Control (GPC), and more.

Love it ! Really LOVE it. The app tracking protection is fantastic, I honestly could NOT believe the amount of trackers that our apps have on them, ones that you wouldn't have any idea are tracking you, I am SO glad that I use this, I'll probably lying never go back to anything else, if you haven't tried it, I really recommend you give this a try, after you see the protection that you get, you'll think the same.

Less than impressed. Almost amateur in design and has a lot of growing up to do. Using bookmarks was a daunting task, particularly if you have several folders. It always opens on the last site you were on instead of your home page, which I really didn't like. VPN made some sites either run slow or not work at all. Just not a very good browser, but it has potential.

Pretty good browser. I was pleased to finally commit to a private browser. Then, I did some online shopping and suddenly had nothing but ads for that item on my app. Really displeased with the main feature I downloaded this for. ***EDIT I've used this about two months now, and I'm switching to another browser. My data is sold faster than when using Chrome, there's no saved history, and pressing "back" when in a tab usually jumps you to a new search rather than going back to the previous page.

Whatā€™s new

What's new:
Weā€™re gradually rolling out a fresh design for settings, with a cleaner layout and icons to match settings in our desktop browser. If you donā€™t see a change after updating, expect to get the new design in the coming weeks as we roll it out to everyone. You can now sort bookmarks alphabetically (by name) or manually. Tap the three-dot menu on the bookmark management screen to try it out. As usual, we also made some bug fixes and improvements.
