  1. Only showing results from www.reddit.com

  2. Give it time. If Threads truly ever takes off, it's going to have all the usual crap of every social media site. This is a service born from Meta remember. Instagram and Facebook aren't exactly known for quality conversations or reasonable people just like Reddit isn't. And as more people join Threads, it'll become just like the aforementioned ...
    • MetaThreads

r/MetaThreads: A place to discuss Threads, the new app from Meta (Instagram/Facebook).

    • Meta Threads : r/Mastodon

Even if Meta did align its code with ActivityPub, it seems to me that federation with Threads is a decision made on a one-by-one basis by instance owners and I can't see any possible incentive for instance owners to wish to flood their neat and orderly sequence of sensible information-heavy posts with 100 times as much nonsense from Threads.

  3. Meta are in desperation mode the last 5 years.. everything they do it copying something else and desperately trying to be seen as industry leaders. Hence the name 'Meta' once the metaverse was a new concept. They've ruined trust and now major markets won't let them operate how they used to which is killing ad revenue.
  4. What's disingenuous is using an objectively worse app (threads) run by a psychotic amoral guy hellbent on exploiting and monetizing user data, all as a protest to Elon Musk. Everything that's good about threads is ripped from X / Twitter. But now it has more distasteful content and less effective tools to curate content.
  5. the app literally looks like it was made by a Meta intern in a day. It has no functionality, and an ultra bland minimalistic design. The utility of Threads crosses over with a lot of instagram functionality already. The main utility of Twitter is news and media, which will be hard for those companies to build up those bases again.
  6. The community-ran subreddit for Threads, where communities come together to discuss everything from the topics you care about today to what'll be trending tomorrow. Whatever it is you're interested in, you can follow and connect directly with your favorite creators and others who love the same things — or build a loyal following of your ...
  7. Even on Twitter, many select personalities have gushed over Threads. I feel that many of these posts are essentially sponsored posts as well. Personal opinion: I'm not holding my breath for Threads to take off. Meta has tried several things in the past that have really not panned out.
  8. Threads needed to be way better. Lesson 3: The user base is crucial for social apps. Twitter's value is its users. Threads didn't get enough big players. Lesson 4: Don't oversell a basic product. Threads grew too fast and let everyone down. End Takeaway Now, Twitter and Threads are big, but the point is clear: hype only works if your product is ...
  10. the spying, sure they knew what they were doing, accidentally getting thousands of their users to accidentally cancel their Instagram accounts was never in the plans. See you dont actually have a threads account, you have an Instagram account and threads is a new feature of Instagram. They are definitely annoyed about the cancelation thing.
