Tuesday Mar 302004 15:38 EDT Vonage has apparently filed suit against AT&T, claiming that the name of AT&T's new service, "CallVantage" is too similar to Vonageand could confuse potential customers.

AT&T has said it wants to sign a million subscribers to its $39 a month a service by the end of next year. The only trouble, says Vonage, is that AT&T's name of CallVantage is too similar to its own, and has filed suit in a New Jersey court. AT&T is using even more similar domain names: callvantage.com looks very much like its own callvonage.com.
The startup VOIP service provider says the name of AT&T's new VOIP offering, CallVantage, is too similar to the Vonage name, and it's suing for trademark infringement.

Vonage said the lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court of the Western District of Wisconsin on October 17. Vonage has been hit by a string of lawsuits since going public in May 2006.
