Archived from groups: comp.dcom.voice-over-ip (More info?) I was wondering if anyone has any technical info on Telus' TalkBroadband service in Canada. Is it SIP based and if so can I connect with a SIP (soft or hard) phone instead of their ATA device? And what about Asterisk? Thanks.

Primus VoIP Telephone System Primus Talkbroadband is my most favorite VoIP service of all. I have been with Primus since October 2004. I am also a Vonage subscriber. My Vonage line is used for different purposes than my Primus line. For the most part, the voice quality is great on both Vonage and Primus. Primus has saved me money in other areas.

PRIMUS Telecommunications Canada Inc. is using the VocalData application server — a set of hosted PBX and IP Centrex applications — to power its TalkBroadband service throughout Canada. xchange: Infrastructure Solutions News Briefs, March 1, 2004
  4. If I could get same speeds of both, I'd probably go Telus. Right now my available speeds are 1.5gbps for Shaw, and 150mbps for Telus, so I went with Shaw. It's generally fine, but I do experience the odd signal drop for a few minutes, a couple times a week. Once it happened during a pretty important meeting at work, which was super annoying.
