Commented Apr 8, 2019 at 9:45. 1. I don't think this question should be closed. There are a lot of questions that have very long and exhaustive answers, this could easily be ...
  3. That's part of why I can't tell if anyone's even using WPF: since there is no one distinctive "Windows" style anymore and a lot of people aspire to "web page" looks, there's not a significant advantage to even using XAML because its widgets look nothing like what people want and the man-centuries of information about how to style widgets is ...

Jon mentions that SVG and XAML are very similar and that Microsoft seems to have ignored SVG (which, they may very well have). An XBAP (XAML Browser Application) is a kind of WPF XAML application, that runs in the browser. Nothing more, nothing less. WPF isn't going away anytime soon; in fact, it received a number of enhancements in .NET 4.5. Windows 8 will continue supporting WPF whether it's run on the desktop or as an XBAP.

  1. While XAML uses the standards defined in XML it has way more abilities and is specialized to be used for GUI-Design comparable to HTML. So to sum things up XML is a Format Structure and XAML is a design language for interfaces based on XML-Standards
