Currently im testing some CalDAV Server Implementations. The most interesting Server is OwnCloud / NextCloud for me. With this as a Server, there is automatic Birthday Calendar, which is a ReadOnly Calendar. All Entries are automatically entered by the Contacts App on the Server and can only be read by a Client. If now a Birthday Event occurs and a Alarm on the Client is fired and the User ...

Apr 24, 2023From the description provided it seems your primary calendar is read-only and thus you cannot edit or create events. This issue may have been caused by settings that need to be changed. So, let us work together as a team to get to the bottom of this. But to better assist you I need to ask: 1) What email account is the calendar associated with?

Oct 4, 2024I upgraded to 15.2 and this appears to be fixed. The calendar still showed items that were marked read-only and were still unable to be deleted. HOWEVER, for me, I went into System Settings -> Internet Accounts -> and then to the Exchange account, and then disabled the calendar for the particular Exchange accounts.
  4. To change the preferences of a single calendar, either double-click on it or highlight the calendar you want to edit, then click the Edit menu from the top and select Calendar properties. I don't know how to double click on or highlight the calendar I want to disable read-only for. I'm invoking thunderbird via xmonad on nixos.

However, my main calendar now is in read-only mode through TB, and even if I switch it off then on, then remove the read only checkbox, as soon as I'm done it's back to read only again and the checkbox greyed out. I also have 5 or so other calendars I've created, and all of those are still read-write with no issues.

If someone has shared a calendar privately it's their decision whether the calendar is read-only or whether you are allowed to write to it. If this isn't a shared calendar, but one of your own, then something has gone wrong and we would need a lot more information as to what exactly the situation is, including where you are seeing this and your ...

Microsoft Outlook 2007 seems to have no ability to allow writing to an Internet Calendar. Icalendars are set to read only. You can publish a calendar to a webdav to create your own icalendar but that calendar (in your Outlook '07) would never update if someone else were to somehow edit that calendar (on the server).

The only "read only" calendar I have is Holidays in the United States from Google Calendar and I can't change it. Probably because I don't have permission and it would change it for everybody using it. ...
