Ask for clarity when you don't understand, can't hear someone, when you're shocked at what someone has said, etc. If you're unable to catch what someone said, use Pardon or Pardon me.However, if you ask someone to repeat him/herself more than twice and you're still unable to understand, don't keep repeating Pardon or Pardon me.
  3. In my culture, and language, we don't apologize. We literally don't have a word or phrase to let others know that we're apologetic. Instead, we have Toh Tsui.It translates to "...begging for punishment." Like, if I accidentally kill someone and I am truly remorseful, I will say Toh Tsui. It means I acknowledge my fault(s), and I accept whatever the punishment is.
