Compton scattering plays a fundamental role in a variety of different astrophysical environments, such as at the gaps of pulsars and the stagnation surface of black holes. In these scenarios, Compton scattering is coupled with self-consistent mechanisms such as pair cascades. We present the implementation of a novel module, embedded in the self-consistent framework of the PIC code OSIRIS 4.0 ...

We employed a deep learning model to evaluate the probability density for Compton scattering events, replacing an analytical calculation [1]. An Artificial Intelligence (AI) module for the OSIRIS PIC code [2] (OSIRIS-AI) was developed. This module uses deep learning models trained in a different framework, namely the Keras Python library [3].
  4. Recently, a Compton scattering module has been implemented to the OSIRIS framework in a similar fashion as the one of Frederiksen [15], and Haugboelle [24]. Let us consider a collimated photon burst of wave- length = 2ˇc=!propagating in a cold unmagnetized plasma of density n p| ~!is the energy of the radiation quanta, and cthe speed of light.

learning model to evaluate the probability density for Compton scattering events, replacing the analytical calculation. This approach is benchmarked against the Compton scattering module recently implemented into OSIRIS (1; 2). A direct comparison was achieved by
  6. We present the implementation of a novel module, embedded in the self-consistent framework of the PIC code OSIRIS 4.0, capable of simulating Comptonscattering from first principles and that is fully integrated with the self-consistent plasma dynamics.

OSIRIS has been enriched during the past years with several modules that allow exploring kinetic plasma physics in the regime where strong radiation [20] and quantum electrodynamics processes become relevant [21 23]. Recently, a Compton scattering module has -

We demonstrate this methodology with a proof-of-concept implementation within the PIC code OSIRIS, where a fully-connected neural network is used to replace a section of a Compton scattering module.
