  1. Immunogenetics

Immunogenetics or immungenetics is the branch of Medical Immunology and Medical Genetics that explores the relationship between the immune system and genetics. Autoimmune diseases, such as type 1 diabetes, are complex genetic traits which result from defects in the immune system. Identification of genes defining the immune defects may identify new target genes for therapeutic approaches. Alternatively, genetic variations can also help to define the immunological pathway leading to disease. Wikipedia

Immunogenetics is a field of biology that incorporates immunology, molecular biology, and genetics to examine inherited factors that influence immunity, intraspecific heterogeneity, tissue receptor inheritance, genetic, and population dimensions of host-microbe interactions, and tissue incompatibility (Castiblanco & Anaya, 2015; Loker, 2012).The area of immunogenetics was founded on the work ...

The term immunogenetics is based on the two words immunology and genetics, and is defined as "a sub discipline of genetics which deals with the genetic basis of the immune response (immunity)" according to MeSH. [1]Genetics (based on Greek γενεά geneá "descent" and γένεσις génesis "origin") [2] is the science researching the transfer of characteristics from one generation to the ...

    2. Immunogenetics in the Hematology-Immunology Domain. B and T lymphocyte populations and their respective IG/TR repertoires are mostly studied in the context of immune diseases (autoimmune diseases, allergies, immune deficiencies) and immune responses (infections, inflammation, vaccinology, cancer), but also frequently in the context of hematological malignancies of immune cells (leukemias ...

Immunogenetics. E.J. Allenspach, T.R. Torgerson, in Brenner's Encyclopedia of Genetics (Second Edition), 2013 Abstract. The term ' immunogenetics ' refers to the scientific discipline that studies the molecular and genetic basis of the immune response. Genetic conditions that affect either the development or function of components of the immune system lead to an inability to control ...

'Immunogenetics' published in 'Encyclopedia of Systems Biology' Immunogenetics is the science that studies, in relation with immunology, the genetic data of the immune system and immune response, at the molecule, cell, tissue, organ, organism, and/or population levels, in vertebrates and invertebrates.

Human genetics - Immunogenetics, Inheritance, Variation: Immunity is the ability of an individual to recognize the "self" molecules that make up one's own body and to distinguish them from such "nonself" molecules as those found in infectious microorganisms and toxins. This process has a prominent genetic component. Knowledge of the genetic and molecular basis of the mammalian immune ...

This open access book explores techniques for working in the field of immunogenetics, i.e. fundamental and translational research into the adaptive immune receptor repertoire. Many chapters are dedicated to lab protocols, bioinformatics, and immunoinformatics analysis of high-resolution immunome analysis, exemplified by numerous applications.
