Jan 3, 2025From the promise of eternal life to the existential questions it raises, brain uploading challenges us to rethink what it means to be human. The Science of Brain Uploading Brain uploading, also known as mind uploading or whole-brain emulation, involves creating a digital replica of the human brain.

Jun 13, 2023Mind Uploading: Decoding The Science Behind Transferring Consciousness As technology continues to advance at an unprecedented rate, the concept of mind uploading has become increasingly popular among philosophers, neuroscientists and futurists.

Dec 4, 2023A lot hangs on this question. If the biological camp is right, then mind uploading wouldn't work, assuming the whole point of uploading is to leave one's biology behind.
  4. The process of migration from brain to computer is often called mind uploading, or simply uploading for short. It can take many different forms. It can involve gradual replacement of brain parts (gradual uploading), instant scanning and activation (instant uploading), or scanning followed by later activation (delayed uploading).

May 17, 2023Mind uploading is predicated on monism, the idea that the mind and the brain are fundamentally the same entity. That is, "you"—in all of your thoughts, emotions, memories and human complexity— IS your physical brain.
  6. allthescience.org

May 21, 2024Mind uploading, also known as whole brain emulation, mind transfer, or simply "uploading" (never "downloading") is the hypothetical act of simulating someone's brain in a computer so well that the simulation possesses all the same intelligence, memories, personality, identity, and consciousness of the original person.

  1. Mind uploading

Mind uploading is a speculative process of whole brain emulation in which a brain scan is used to completely emulate the mental state of the individual in a digital computer. The computer would then run a simulation of the brain's information processing, such that it would respond in essentially the same way as the original brain and experience having a sentient conscious mind. Substantial mainstream research in related areas is being conducted in neuroscience and computer science, including animal brain mapping and simulation, development of faster supercomputers, virtual reality, brain–computer interfaces, connectomics, and information extraction from dynamically functioning brains. According to supporters, many of the tools and ideas needed to achieve mind uploading already exist or are under active development; however, they will admit that others are, as yet, very speculative, but say they are still in the realm of engineering possibility.
