    Hiroshi Yoshimura

    Japanese musician

Hiroshi Yoshimura was a Japanese musician and composer. He is considered a pioneer of ambient music in Japan. His music lies mostly in the minimalist genre of kankyō ongaku, or environment music—soft electronic melodies infused with the sounds of nature: babbling brooks, steady rain, and morning birds. However, not all Yoshimura's work included nature sounds. His album Green only contained them in the United States release, as they were excluded in the Japanese version. Wikipedia

Jul 29, 2024This concept was music to the ears of the Japanese composer Hiroshi Yoshimura. With Shinto and Buddhism as its primary religions, Japan is a deeply spiritual country. Far from the bustle of densely populated cities like Tokyo and Yokohama, tranquil frames of snow-dusted mountaintops and Yoshino Cherry trees present the idyllic scene for ...

Jun 28, 2023Music for Nine Postcards. Recorded at home with just a keyboard and a Fender Rhodes, Yoshimura provided the tape of Music for Nine Post Cards to the Hara Museum of Contemporary Art, where it was intended to complement the clean and airy interior of Jin Watanabe's Bauhaus-inspired building. The sublime and often sun-dappled stillness of his near-pointillist reflections on such simple but ...
