CP/M 3.0 for the Altair by AltairClone » March 26th, 2019, 8:54 pm CP/M 3, also known as CP/M Plus, was released in 1983. CP/M 3 is the last version of CP/M written for 8-bit processors like the 8080 and Z80. By the time of this release, the IBM PC and MSDOS had been out for over a year and soon took over the personal computer marketplace.

Mar 23, 2023It is the cheapest CP/M system I know of, as you can build it for under 10 bucks (used to be 5). It currently boots CP/M 2.2 and 3.0 and runs with an apparent clock of 2.5-3.5 MHz. (the AVR runs at 20 MHz) It currenly works almost without issues and I'm getting the PCBs this afternoon. I'll post about it soon.

CP/M plus (CP/M 3.0) could address 1 mbyte of main memory by segmentation the memory areas, harddisk storage up to 16 mbyte was also possible. CP/M 86 managed max. 1 mbyte main memory without segmentation and stood into competition with MS DOS. CP/M 68 K was designed for 68 K RISC CPUs and not able for multi-user or multitasking.
  4. This is 40 tracks, 1 side, 9 sectors per track numbered &41-&49. Each sector is 512bytes. There are two reserved tracks, then the directory which has 64 entries (which occupies 4 sectors) and then the data area. CP/M is booted using an RSX command "|CPM" which is implemented in the Amstrad disc rom (AMSDOS).
