What data broker sites does Personal Information Removal cover?

Personal Information Removal currently scans 50+ data broker sites to find and remove your personal information. The exact number of sites may change over time, as we work to expand coverage to new data brokers and remove sites we can no longer support.

You can find a full updated list of all supported data broker sites at the bottom of this page.

Why would DuckDuckGo remove support for a data broker site?

Coverage for a data broker site may be removed from Personal Information Removal for a variety of reasons. It's uncommon, but the two most common reasons are:

  1. The data broker site has been taken down and is now offline
  2. We can no longer reliably remove records from the data broker site

What happens when a data broker site is taken down?

When a data broker site goes offline, we remove it from the list of supported brokers below and then close all found records that are still pending removal. Pending records closed this way will contain a note in your Personal Information Removal dashboard. We then continue to monitor that domain for data broker activity, and if the site comes back online, we will resume regular scans and removals.

Why might DuckDuckGo no longer be able to remove records for a data broker site?

We may not be able to continue removing records from a previously supported data broker site for two reasons:

  1. The data broker site has significantly changed their removal request process
  2. The data broker site has stopped responding to removal requests altogether

Personal Information Removal automates the removal request process for data broker sites that have your personal info, but that request process varies from site to site. Data brokers are required by U.S. law to process information removal requests, but they are not incentivized to make that process easy and may actively work to make it more difficult to remove your data. They may move the opt-out form to a different URL, add extra steps, change the names of form fields, introduce CAPTCHAs, and more to stop or delay our ability to request opt-outs.

We constantly monitor for these types of changes to adjust our approach, and usually these changes only delay how quickly we can submit removal requests. Occasionally though, we are unable to find a reliable enough solution for removing records and so we may decide to remove support for that site until we can do so reliably again.

Other times, data broker sites may simply stop responding to removal requests altogether despite being required by U.S. law to process these requests. When that happens, we may attempt to contact the data broker site directly to resolve the issue, and if that fails, we may also submit legal complaints to escalate the issue further. It’s not common, but if the issues continue to persist after those steps, we may decide to drop support for that data broker site until removal requests can be processed again reliably.
